This is my first try of a Salomon trail shoe, having previously worn Brooks Cascadia. I wear orthotics and the Ultra Glide accomodate them well. These shoes have great cushioning, resulting in a feel underfoot more like a road shoe. The heel cup is deep and well padded so your foot feels secure. The quick lace system works fine and the lace garage keeps it all tidy. I’ve done 30kms or so in two wears and have no sore spots; the roomy toe box allows good room to move and the sizing seems true to a little generous. The grip feels reasonable but a little less aggressive than other shoes. Downsides? The quick lace system wouldn’t allow you to do lace locking if you wished, and there’s no Velcro tab for gaiters. The Cascadia had this feature and it was neat and effective. All up, very happy with these shoes.
